We Remember and Honor 9/11

On this day, we pause to remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001. As a district, we stand united in honoring the nearly 3,000 lives lost and the bravery of the countless first responders, citizens, and military personnel who showed extraordinary courage in the face of adversity.

Flags across our schools will be flown at half-staff today, symbolizing our shared grief and deep respect for the heroes of that day. We encourage our community to take a moment to reflect, remember, and find strength in the resilience and unity that followed.

Attendance Matters!

School attendance is crucial for academic success. Consistent attendance is linked to better grades, higher graduation rates, and the development of important life skills. Missing just 2 days of school each month can add up to about 20 days of absence in a school year. That’s why building strong attendance habits early is important! Attending today helps with achieving tomorrow! 💙💛

Our goal isn’t simply to have students sitting in a classroom. We want them present, engaged, learning, growing, and making memories. Let’s work together to make every school day count!🏫📅📝

After the campus was assessed, no fire, smoke, or other hazards were identified. All students and staff have safely reentered the building, and normal operations have resumed.

We appreciate our students and staff for responding appropriately and following established safety procedures.

📚 September is National Literacy Month, and Wilkinson County Schools is joining the celebration!

Reading supports learning in every subject and plays an important role in helping our students grow in the classroom and beyond.

Throughout the month, we’ll highlight literacy initiatives and community partnerships that provide additional support and resources for our students and families. We’ll also share simple ways families can encourage reading, writing, vocabulary, and meaningful conversations at home.

From building early reading habits to expanding access to books and strengthening foundational skills, supporting literacy takes all of us. Let’s read, discover, and grow together!

Sometimes students notice warning signs before adults do. Knowing what to look for can make a difference.

A concerning social media post. A threat. Bullying or harassment. Someone talking about hurting themselves or someone else. Or simply a situation that doesn’t feel right.

Through Sandy Hook Promise’s Say Something program, students learn three important steps: recognize the warning signs, take them seriously, and say something.

Speaking up isn’t about getting someone in trouble. It’s about getting someone help. 💛

“Know the Signs. Say Something.” graphic highlighting warning signs students may notice before adults. Four examples are shown with distinct colored icons: concerning social media posts in navy, a threat in gold, bullying or harassment in red, and someone talking about hurting themselves or someone else in green. The graphic encourages students to recognize warning signs and threats, act immediately and take them seriously, and say something by getting help from a trusted adult or using the anonymous reporting system. A reminder reads, “Behavior that simply doesn’t feel right? Trust your gut. Say something.”
At WCSD, the safety and well-being of our students remain at the heart of everything we do. We’re proud to announce a new partnership with Sandy Hook Promise as part of our continued commitment to fostering safe, welcoming, and supportive learning environments.

As part of this initiative, we will soon launch the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System across our schools. This program empowers students to recognize warning signs, speak up, and help create a culture where everyone looks out for one another.

Parents and guardians, please be on the lookout for a letter coming home with your student that will provide additional information about the program. As we begin implementation, our counselors and school administrators will also provide students with guided lessons to help them understand how the system works and when and how to use it. We appreciate your continued support in keeping our schools safe, welcoming, and supportive for every student.

During the August Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Dr. James proudly shared results from our Spring End-of-Grade and End-of-Course assessments. The data showed a positive trend—Wilkinson County Schools experienced growth across multiple content areas!🎉 We are proud of the hard work of our students, teachers, administrators, and staff who made these gains possible. These results encourage us to keep pushing forward, building on our progress, and raising the bar for student achievement. Dr. James also recognized Dr. Paulk and the entire team at Wilkinson County High School for being named a Literacy Leader by the Georgia Department of Education based on 2025 assessment results. We’re proud of the progress, proud of the recognition, and excited to keep the momentum going. Warrior Nation is climbing higher! 💙💛 #WCSDWarriors #WarriorNation #OneWilco
