On this day, we pause to remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001. As a district, we stand united in honoring the nearly 3,000 lives lost and the bravery of the countless first responders, citizens, and military personnel who showed extraordinary courage in the face of adversity.
Flags across our schools will be flown at half-staff today, symbolizing our shared grief and deep respect for the heroes of that day. We encourage our community to take a moment to reflect, remember, and find strength in the resilience and unity that followed.

Attendance Matters!
School attendance is crucial for academic success. Consistent attendance is linked to better grades, higher graduation rates, and the development of important life skills. Missing just 2 days of school each month can add up to about 20 days of absence in a school year. That’s why building strong attendance habits early is important! Attending today helps with achieving tomorrow! 💙💛
Our goal isn’t simply to have students sitting in a classroom. We want them present, engaged, learning, growing, and making memories. Let’s work together to make every school day count!🏫📅📝

📢 Labor Day Closure Reminder
In honor of Labor Day, all schools and offices will be closed today, Monday, September 7.
Take this time to relax, recharge, and spend quality moments with your loved ones.
We appreciate all the effort and dedication that goes into making our school community thrive.
Enjoy your well-deserved day off, and we'll see everyone back, energized and ready to keep learning and growing together!

After the campus was assessed, no fire, smoke, or other hazards were identified. All students and staff have safely reentered the building, and normal operations have resumed.

📚 September is National Literacy Month, and Wilkinson County Schools is joining the celebration!
Reading supports learning in every subject and plays an important role in helping our students grow in the classroom and beyond.
Throughout the month, we’ll highlight literacy initiatives and community partnerships that provide additional support and resources for our students and families. We’ll also share simple ways families can encourage reading, writing, vocabulary, and meaningful conversations at home.
From building early reading habits to expanding access to books and strengthening foundational skills, supporting literacy takes all of us. Let’s read, discover, and grow together!

Sometimes students notice warning signs before adults do. Knowing what to look for can make a difference.
A concerning social media post. A threat. Bullying or harassment. Someone talking about hurting themselves or someone else. Or simply a situation that doesn’t feel right.
Through Sandy Hook Promise’s Say Something program, students learn three important steps: recognize the warning signs, take them seriously, and say something.
Speaking up isn’t about getting someone in trouble. It’s about getting someone help. 💛

As part of this initiative, we will soon launch the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System across our schools. This program empowers students to recognize warning signs, speak up, and help create a culture where everyone looks out for one another.
Parents and guardians, please be on the lookout for a letter coming home with your student that will provide additional information about the program. As we begin implementation, our counselors and school administrators will also provide students with guided lessons to help them understand how the system works and when and how to use it. We appreciate your continued support in keeping our schools safe, welcoming, and supportive for every student.
