We're gearing up for our annual Red Ribbon Week recognition, beginning Monday, October 26th!
Red Ribbon Week is an annual alcohol, tobacco, drug, and violence prevention campaign held every October in the United States. Its purpose is to educate the public about the dangers of drug use and to encourage a drug-free lifestyle, particularly among young people.
Here are the details for our spirit week. Our school counselors are also sharing information in their buildings and other ways to celebrate, including poster and essay contests, assemblies, and more!

This week, we recognize National School Bus Safety Week and America's Safe Schools Week! While these observances focus on different areas, they share one important goal: keeping our students and staff safe!
🚌 School Bus Safety Week reminds us that safety begins long before students enter the classroom. From waiting at the bus stop and boarding safely to following bus rules and encouraging motorists to remain alert, everyone plays a role in making sure our students arrive at school and return home safely.
🏫 Safe Schools Week highlights the importance of maintaining secure, supportive, and welcoming learning environments. When students feel safe physically, socially, and emotionally, they're better able to focus, build positive relationships, and succeed academically.
At Wilkinson County Schools, safe students and safe schools are everyone's responsibility! 💙 💛

✅ These days still count as instructional days — no learning time is lost.
✅ Dates are posted in advance on the district calendar, app, and school communications.
Our first Asynchronous Learning Day is next Monday, September 21, 2026. 📅

Today begins National Hispanic Heritage Month! From September 15 through October 15, we celebrate the cultures, histories, and contributions of our Hispanic students, families, staff, and community. Unidos, Somos Más. Together, We Are More. 💙💛
We Remember and Honor 9/11
On this day, we pause to remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001. As a district, we stand united in honoring the nearly 3,000 lives lost and the bravery of the countless first responders, citizens, and military personnel who showed extraordinary courage in the face of adversity.
Flags across our schools will be flown at half-staff today, symbolizing our shared grief and deep respect for the heroes of that day. We encourage our community to take a moment to reflect, remember, and find strength in the resilience and unity that followed.
