Wilkinson County Schools is proud to welcome Communities In Schools (CIS) to our district as part of our commitment to supporting the whole student. This new partnership brings added resources and support to Wilkinson County Middle and High School students, helping them overcome barriers to success both in and out of the classroom.
Through CIS, students will have access to services that promote academic achievement, consistent attendance, positive behavior, and social-emotional growth. These supports are coordinated by our new CIS site coordinator, Leona Hill, who will be based on both the middle and high school campuses.
Ms. Hill works closely with school staff, students, and families to identify needs and connect students with the right resources—from tutoring and mentoring to basic needs like school supplies, hygiene products, and referrals for counseling or health services.
Communities In Schools operates in schools across the country, providing a proven model of integrated student supports. The program is centered on building strong relationships and helping students develop the skills and confidence to reach their full potential.
Wilkinson County Schools is excited to expand its student services through this initiative and looks forward to the positive impact CIS will bring to our schools and community.
