Wilkinson County Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Mrs. Graceanne Johnson as Principal of Wilkinson County Primary/Elementary School. A long-time educator and dedicated Warrior, Mrs. Johnson brings 12 years of service and leadership within the district to her new role.
Mrs. Johnson began her career as a special education teacher for 5th grade at Wilkinson County Elementary School. She later served as academic coach for grades K–5, then assistant principal — all within the schools that now make up WCPES. “I’ve seen education from different angles,” she says, “and I’ve met mentors along the way who helped shape me into the leader I am today.”
Her decision to step into the principalship was driven by a desire to deepen her impact: “I want to continue growing the students of WCSD and lead at the building level to directly support student achievement, staff development, and school improvement.”
Mrs. Johnson’s priorities for her first year include:
Building strong, trusting relationships with staff, families, and students
Supporting teachers through coaching and collaborative planning
Strengthening school culture by celebrating student success
Aligning school goals with the district’s strategic plan
At the heart of her work is a passion for children. “Students drive everything I do,” she explains. “My proudest moments come from forming connections with the students who need it most.”
When she’s not leading the school, Mrs. Johnson enjoys spending time with her husband, Tyler, and their large blended family of eight children and several grandchildren. She also enjoys golf, reading, and quiet time with loved ones.
Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Johnson to her new role — and in supporting her as she leads WCPES into a new chapter filled with high expectations, community collaboration, and Warrior pride.
