At Wilkinson County Primary School, Valentine’s Day wasn’t just about cards and candy—it was a chance for students to explore STEM in action. As part of the school’s SPACE theme (Seeing Potential and Creativity in Every Student), classrooms were filled with hands-on challenges that encouraged problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity.
Students across grade levels engaged in STEM activities that combined holiday fun with critical thinking:
Pre-K students built heart robots and conducted the Will the Heart Float? experiment, with parents joining in on the learning experience.
Kindergarten continued the floating heart experiment, testing predictions and observing results.
First graders put their engineering skills to the test by constructing the tallest tower using only marshmallows and toothpicks.
Second graders designed and built candy boxes strong enough to hold Valentine’s treats, reinforcing concepts of structure and stability.
This engaging event would not have been possible without the dedication of our teachers, the support of our parents, and the contributions of Ms. Latrina Howell of GYSTC. Their commitment to hands-on learning ensures that our students continue to grow and thrive.
At WCPS, we believe learning should be an adventure—because the sky is not the limit!
