Circulation Guidelines

  • Students may check out a maximum of three books at the same time.

  • Materials are circulated for two weeks. If a student wants to keep the book(s) longer, they must renew in the by the due date.

  • Students will be billed for items that are not returned in a timely manner or that are not returned in the same condition.

  • If a student has an overdue book, no checkouts are permitted until he or she returns/renews the material.

  • Students are responsible for all materials checked out in their name. Report cards will be held for overdue materials and/or fines.

Lexile Measures

Using Lexile® measures, students can be matched with reading materials more precisely than grade or age indicators allow. Within a classroom, there will be a wide range of students’ Lexile measures.

* The Lexile range shown is the middle 50 percent of reader measures for each grade. This means that 25 percent of students had Lexile measures below the lower number and 25 percent had Lexile measures above the higher number.

** Beginning Reader (BR) is a code given to readers and texts that are below 0L on the Lexile scale. The lower the number following the BR code, the more advanced the reader or text is. The higher the number, the less complex the text is or less skilled the reader is.
