Mission

The mission and responsibility of the Federal Programs are to procure, monitor, and utilize federal funds for the following programs in order to provide quality federal educational opportunities in Wilkinson County Schools:

ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001) Programs:

  • Title I, Part A: Provides supplemental instructional services in the core academic subject to students in grades PK-12.
  • Title II-A: Monies are provided to increase student achievement by enhancing the teacher and principal quality through professional development, recruitment, hiring, and retention.         
  • Title III: Assists in teaching English to limited English proficient children and helping these students meet the same challenging standards for all students. 
  • Title IV:  Provide all students with access to a well-rounded education, improve school conditions for student learning, and improve the use of technology in order to improve the academic achievement and digital literacy of all students. (ESEA section 41​01). Initial Award Year was 2019
  • Title V:  The Rural Education Initiative is designed to assist rural school districts in using Federal resources more effectively to improve the quality of instruction and student academic achievement. The RLIS (Rural and Low Income School) program is an initiative that provides grant funds to rural LEAs that serve concentrations of children from low-income families.
